How Much Pipe Do I Need For My Water Underfloor Heating?

Updated: May 29, 2023

At The Underfloor Megastore, you will never need to calculate the amount of pipe you require for your install. That’s because we do it for you! All of our water kits are sized to suit the total m2 of your heated rooms.

We also provide free quotes and designs for bespoke systems (often with discounted prices from our website costs!) all you need to measure is the dimensions of each room you would like to heat and how many separate zones you would like the heating to cover (Each zone is controlled by its own thermostat).

However, with that being said. We understand that some people enjoy working things out for themselves or are genuinely interested in how things work. So please see the brief methods of how your water pipe is calculated:

200mm Pipe Spacing

If 200mm (standard pipe spacing) is specified, you will need 5m of pipe for each m². This would mean each 100m circuit will cover up to 20m².

150mm Pipe Spacing

If the pipe spacing is reduced to 150mm (for high heat loss area such as a conservatory), you will need 6.67m of pipe for each m². With this option, a 100mm coil will cover up to 15m².

Always remember to include the extra meterage for your pipe to feed to and from the manifold.
